Big Pokey, a popular Texas rapper and original member of Houston’s pioneering Screwed Up Click, died at the age of 48 after collapsing while performing at a Juneteenth show in Beaumont, Texas. Pokey was known for his contributions to the development of the chopped and screwed music style, which became synonymous with Houston. He leaves behind a wife and three college-aged children.
