Indian police released a suspected Chinese spy pigeon, which was actually an open-water racing bird from Taiwan, after eight months' detention. The pigeon was captured near a port in Mumbai with rings carrying words that looked like Chinese, leading to suspicions of espionage. It was later transferred to an animal hospital and then set free by the Bombay Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. This incident is not the first time a bird has come under police suspicion in India.
