China's Moon Mission Discovers New Water Source in Lunar Samples.
Lunar samples from a Chinese mission have revealed a new and renewable source of water on the moon, embedded in tiny glass beads in the lunar dirt where meteorite impacts occur. These beads could continually yield water thanks to the constant bombardment by hydrogen in the solar wind. Mining it would be tough, but heating the beads could extract water, possibly by future robotic missions. This shows “water can be recharged on the moon’s surface ... a new water reservoir on the moon,” according to the study.
