"Kenneka Jenkins' Family Receives $6.4M Settlement in Hotel Freezer Death"
The family of Kenneka Jenkins, a woman who died after freezing in a walk-in freezer at a Chicago-area hotel, has agreed to a $6 million settlement in their wrongful death lawsuit. The settlement includes over $3.7 million for Jenkins' mother, $3.5 million for attorneys' fees, and $1.2 million and $1.5 million for other family members. Jenkins was last seen on security cameras wandering through the hotel's kitchen before being found dead in the freezer 21 hours later. Her mother sued the hotel, restaurant, and security company for failing to prevent her from entering the freezer and for negligence in monitoring the premises.
