The Chevrolet LUV, also known as the Isuzu Faster in Japan, was a compact truck ahead of its time. Introduced in 1972, it offered impressive fuel efficiency, with an estimated 32 mpg on the highway. Despite its smaller size, the LUV had better ground clearance than its Japanese rival, the Toyota Truck. It was sold until 1982 and paved the way for Chevy's own compact truck, the Chevy S-10. With the success of Ford's Maverick, it might be time for Chevy to consider bringing back the LUV nameplate.
