A four-alarm fire at the Golden Green Hotel in east Charlotte on Saturday night resulted in several injuries and displaced residents. The fire, which was controlled in 80 minutes, was caused by carelessly discarded smoking materials, with a possible contribution from electrical failures. Two people were rescued, and six were evaluated for minor injuries. The fire, starting on the third floor, caused approximately $250,000 in damage. Displaced residents were provided temporary shelter in buses, and the investigation is ongoing.
