Married filmmakers Jimmy Chin and Chai Vasarhelyi have made their narrative directorial debut with "Nyad," a film about Diana Nyad's pursuit of becoming the first person to swim from Cuba to Florida without a cage. The film highlights the personal and professional obstacles Nyad had to overcome, with Annette Bening delivering an impressive performance in the lead role. Bening, who has been nominated for an Oscar four times, is considered overdue for the award and her portrayal of Nyad could be a strong contender. Jodie Foster also shines in a supporting role as Nyad's best friend and coach. Netflix will release the film in select theaters on Oct. 20 before streaming it on Nov. 3.
