"Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Pet Bearded Dragons: CDC Warning"
A rare strain of Salmonella, linked to pet bearded dragons, has affected infants in the U.S. and Canada, with a CDCP study identifying cases in both countries. The outbreak strain was traced to bearded dragons sold by a common intermediary supplier in southeast Asia, leading to 12 cases in the U.S. between March 2021 and September 2022. It is advised that bearded dragons should not roam outside of their tanks to prevent further outbreaks, and households with infants should be cautious about having amphibians due to the potential spread of salmonella bacteria.
