Saint Mary's College Reverses Transgender Admissions Policy
Saint Mary's College, a historically all-female institution, has reversed its recent admission policy change that would have considered transgender applicants. The decision was met with backlash, including from Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades. The college's Board of Trustees decided to return to its previous admission policy after considering the impact of the update to its non-discrimination policy. LGBT rights organization DignityUSA expressed disappointment, stating that allowing trans women to enroll is in line with Catholic values. Prior to the reversal, Saint Mary's was the 23rd all-female campus in the U.S. to open itself to transgender students.
