BYU's Casey Clinger finished third in the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, while teammate Kenneth Rooks advanced to the steeplechase final. BYU's 4 x 400 relay team set a school record but failed to advance to the final. Weber State's Bronson Winter did not advance in the steeplechase. The women's competition will take place on Thursday, with the men's competition concluding on Friday.
BYU men's track and field team qualified athletes in four more events for the NCAA championships, including Dallin Shurts in the discus, Kenneth Rooks in the steeplechase, Casey Clinger in the 5,000-meter run, and the 4x400-meter relay team. Rooks set an American collegiate record earlier this month but was beaten by Montana's Duncan Hamilton on Friday. The BYU men qualified a total of seven athletes in individual events plus the relay.
