Isles land Palat in midseason deal to replace Palmieri
The New York Islanders acquired Ondrej Palat from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for defenseman Carson Soucy, with New Jersey adding a 2027 sixth-round pick and a third-round pick the Islanders had previously sent to the Rangers; the Isles also sent Max Tsyplakov to New Jersey, leaving a net cap increase of about $3.75 million. Palat, who has 10 points in 51 games this season, is viewed as a potential replacement for Kyle Palmieri and will try to recapture his Lightning-era form, aided by Islanders coach Mathieu Darche who knows Palat from Tampa.
