Tesla Takes Over American-Made Car Market
Tesla has secured the top four spots in the 2023 Cars.com American-Made Index ranking, with the Model Y taking the top spot. The ranking is based on criteria including percentage of domestic parts content, country of origin for engines and transmissions, US manufacturing workforce, and location of final assembly. Tesla's Giga Austin plant in Texas helped boost its ranking, with Volkswagen's ID.4 taking the sixth spot. Tesla also leads in share of US light-duty sales from domestic assembly, with a 100% figure.
