New Orleans law enforcement, including the NOPD and Louisiana State Police, ceremoniously ended Mardi Gras on Bourbon Street with a news conference led by Mayor LaToya Cantrell and NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick. Tourists were cleared from the street to allow cleaning crews to begin the task of picking up the trash left behind after the festivities.
