Tropical Storm Idalia Threatens Florida with Contaminated Fuel Crisis
Officials in Florida are warning of a potentially widespread fuel contamination along the Gulf Coast, which could cause car engines and power generators to stop working just as Tropical Storm Idalia approaches the area. The contamination, caused by human error at the Port of Tampa, affects gasoline and diesel supplied by Citgo and may have been sold at nearly 30 stations. The impacted stations have been asked to stop selling gas until the fuel can be replaced and tanks cleaned. Florida's Division of Emergency Management has waived restrictions on transporting gas and diesel to ensure access to fuel.
