Tragedy at Sea: South Korean Tanker Capsizes off Japan, Eight Dead
A South Korean tanker carrying 980 tonnes of acrylic acid capsized off Japan, resulting in eight deaths, one person in a non-life-threatening condition, and two others missing. The ship had 11 people onboard, including South Koreans, Indonesians, and a Chinese national. The vessel had been at anchor due to rough weather near the island of Mutsure, off Japan’s south-western coast. The South Korean president has ordered relevant authorities to mobilize all available personnel and equipment, including navy and fishing boats, for search efforts.
