A former California doctor, Mark Chavez, was sentenced to 8 months of home detention and 3 years of supervised release for conspiring to distribute ketamine, which was linked to the accidental overdose death of actor Matthew Perry. Chavez sold ketamine to another doctor who supplied Perry, and he pleaded guilty to the charges, facing up to 10 years in prison. Perry died in October 2023 from a high level of ketamine, which he was using for depression and anxiety treatment.
