Netflix Faces Multiple Lawsuits Over Use of Personal Photos in True-Crime Documentaries
A man from Kentucky is suing Netflix for using his image without permission in a documentary about Caleb McGillvary, a viral internet star who was convicted of murder in 2019. Taylor Hazlewood, a respiratory therapist, took a photo with a hatchet and posted it on Instagram, which was used in the documentary without his permission. Hazlewood's attorney claims that he had no connection to the people or events depicted in the film and that Netflix must be held accountable for reputational harm caused by their negligence.
