CADs shared with 9to5Mac reveal that Apple is planning to increase the screen sizes of both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, with the latter possibly being called the iPhone 16 Ultra. The larger iPhone 16 Pro model will carry a roughly 6.9” screen, and the entire body will grow significantly, while the smaller model will also grow to around 6.3”. This larger display will enable Apple to fit a periscope zoom lens in the smaller iPhone 16 Pro, which will be missing from the smaller iPhone 15 Pro this year. However, it's important to keep in mind that we are well over a year away from the iPhone 16 Pro's release, and very little is finalized.
New CADs reveal that Apple's final design decision for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max includes separate physical volume buttons and a solid-state Action button that replaces the mute switch. The CADs also show a slightly larger camera bump than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, despite including Apple's first periscope lens. Other confirmed features include record-breakingly thin bezels, a more curved design, and USB-C for all models. However, mysteries remain around the A17 chip performance, titanium chassis, and pricing.
New CAD files obtained by 9to5Mac reveal that the iPhone 15 Pro will feature traditional volume buttons instead of the previously rumored haptic buttons, but will include a new mute button that adds additional functionality. The updated CADs also show a more reasonable camera bump design with protrusions that are less comical. The bezels are incredibly narrow, USB-C is present, and the entire frame of the device is far more rounded than the current iPhone 14 series. These new CADs add credibility to previously leaked information and accurately represent what current manufacturers are being given to design accessories.
