Buick City redevelopment and GM announcement set for Monday in Flint.
The groundbreaking for the first building at the new Flint Commerce Center at the former General Motors Co. Buick City campus will take place on Monday, marking the official start of construction of the facility that's slated for completion in early 2024. The Flint Commerce Center is expected to generate total investment of $300 million for up to 10 buildings to create 3.5 million square feet of space and as many as 3,000 jobs. The same day, GM is planning to make "a positive plant manufacturing announcement" at its Flint Assembly facility, according to a press advisory issued Thursday.
