Oakland Community Mourns Hero Officer Slain in Burglary Standoff
Oakland Police Officer Tuan Le, aged 36, was fatally shot early Friday morning while responding to a burglary at a cannabis business, marking the second burglary at the location within four hours. Born in Vietnam and naturalized on September 11, 2001, Le had served as a community resource officer in West Oakland for two years. The incident occurred on the 400 block of Embarcadero, and despite being rushed to Highland Hospital, Officer Le succumbed to his injuries. The Oakland community and law enforcement are mourning the loss, and Mayor Sheng Thao emphasized the need for community support. Officer Le is the 54th Oakland Police officer to be killed in the line of duty.
