"Underground Scandal: New York Synagogue Tunnel Unearths Arrests and Instability"
New York building officials have issued emergency work orders to stabilize a historic synagogue and its neighboring structures after an illicit underground tunnel was discovered, leading to partial vacate orders for safety reasons. The tunnel, unauthorized and unpermitted, was found to be 60ft-long, 8ft-wide, and 5ft-high, extending under several buildings in the vicinity of the Chabad Lubavitch movement's global headquarters. The tunnel's creation, condemned as vandalism by Chabad representatives, has caused structural issues in adjacent buildings, prompting enforcement actions against the property owners.
