Buffalo AKG Art Museum Reopens with Stunning New Features.
The Buffalo AKG Art Museum has reopened after a $195 million expansion, restoration, and renovation project that began in 2020. The museum now has three times the exhibition space, a loading dock, freight elevators, and a bridge to transport artwork throughout the museum. The new Jeffrey M. Gundlach Building, named after the Amherst native who contributed $65 million to the project, has 13 galleries of different sizes and shapes and a sculpture terrace. The museum's campus also includes the Seymour H. Knox Building, which now has a 6,000-square-foot gathering space and a kaleidoscopic canopy.
