The Arizona Diamondbacks swept a doubleheader against the San Diego Padres, winning the second game 8-1 with a grand slam from catcher Gabriel Moreno. The Arizona Diamondbacks have designated catcher Carson Kelly for assignment and activated catcher Gabriel Moreno from the injured list. They have also selected right-hander Bryce Jarvis from Triple-A Reno and optioned right-hander Ryne Nelson to Reno. Kelly, who has been with the team since 2019, hit .226 in 32 games. Moreno, who last played on July 22, is batting .270 with three home runs and 28 RBIs. Jarvis, the team's No. 30 prospect, will be making his major league debut. Nelson has a 5.47 ERA in 24 starts this season.
