
Texas man indicted for threatening to kill US Rep. Maxine Waters.
Brian Michael Gaherty, a Houston man, has been indicted on federal charges for making a series of voicemail threats to Rep. Maxine Waters' office last year. Gaherty allegedly called Waters' office four times and made threats to harm and kill her, including one that threatened to "cut your throat." He has been charged with four counts of making threats in interstate communications and four counts of threatening a United States official. Gaherty has a history of sending racist, violent threats to other congresswomen. Each count carries a maximum sentence of five to ten years in federal prison.
