Former Minneapolis Police Officer Brian Cummings Sentenced for Fatal High-Speed Crash
Former Minneapolis police officer Brian Cummings has been sentenced to nine months in the Hennepin County Workhouse and three years of probation for causing a high-speed crash that killed Leneal Frazier in 2021. Cummings pleaded guilty to criminal vehicular homicide and expressed remorse during the sentencing. The judge accepted the plea deal, which did not include any prison time, citing Cummings' acceptance of responsibility and amenable attitude towards probation. Frazier's family expressed pain and frustration but acknowledged that no sentence could bring back their loved one. Cummings will report to the workhouse on July 26 and will be supervised during his probation, which includes various conditions. The family plans to file a civil lawsuit.
