Hitler's Birthplace Transformed: From Infamy to Law Enforcement
Work has begun on transforming the house in Braunau am Inn, Austria, where Adolf Hitler was born, into a police station in an effort to deter Nazi glorification. The decision to repurpose the building was made in 2019, and the police are expected to occupy the premises in early 2026. The Austrian government believes that having the police stationed there is the best use for the building, but there has been criticism regarding the lack of historical contextualization. Some argue in favor of showcasing an exhibition on those who saved Jews during the Nazi era.
