Nintendo allegedly forced SEGA to place Mario ahead of Sonic in Olympic game art
Ryoichi Hasegawa of SEGA says Nintendo demanded that Mario’s foot be ahead of Sonic’s in official artwork for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, and Sega had to change it after an error. The collaboration bridged former rivals, but the series may be winding down, with plans for a bigger crossover (Zelda, Dragon Ball) that never materialized; the 2020 entry was touted as a major crossover.
