Tragic Loss Forces Northwestern State to Cancel Games
Northwestern State University's college football program has canceled its remaining four games of the season and head coach Brad Laird has resigned following the death of junior Ronnie Caldwell, a Cedar Park native. The university cited the mental health and wellbeing of its student-athletes as the primary reason for the cancellation. Caldwell, who had been injured all season, died on October 12, and his death is being investigated by local police. No arrests have been made. Cedar Park's football program held a moment of silence for Caldwell and is wearing decals on their helmets in his memory.
