Bossa Studios Cuts One-Third of Workforce Amidst Turbulent Times
UK-based game developer Bossa Studios has laid off approximately one third of its workforce, with 19 people affected, particularly in QA and production roles. The layoffs were attributed to a "perfect storm of events," including competition from AAA games, rising operational costs, and delayed industry funding. The studio now focuses on its upcoming game, Lost Skies, and is left with 40 employees. Co-founder Henrique Olifiers expressed regret over the layoffs and called for industry support in helping the affected staff find new opportunities. The games industry faced significant layoffs in 2023, and analysts predict this trend may continue into 2024.
