
'Girl from Ipanema' singer Astrud Gilberto dies at 83
Brazilian singer Astrud Gilberto, known for her hit song "The Girl from Ipanema," has died at the age of 83. Gilberto helped bring bossa nova music to the mainstream and won four Grammys. She collaborated with musicians such as Stan Getz and George Michael throughout her career and released at least 16 original albums. Gilberto was inducted into the International Latin Music Hall of Fame in 2002 and received a Lifetime Achievement award from the Latin Recording Academy in 2008.
