
Methanol Poisoning in Laos: Tourist Deaths Spark Investigation
A sixth foreign tourist, 19-year-old Australian Holly Bowles, has died from suspected methanol poisoning in Laos, bringing the total number of deaths to six. The victims, including another Australian teenager, a British lawyer, an unnamed US man, and two Danish women, are believed to have consumed tainted alcohol in the tourist town of Vang Vieng. Methanol, a toxic substance sometimes found in bootleg alcohol, is suspected to be the cause. The incident has prompted international concern and calls for a thorough investigation.
