Man Acquitted of In-Flight Bomb Joke Charges in London-Spain Incident
A British man, Aditya Verma, has been acquitted by a Spanish court of public disorder after joking about blowing up a flight from London to Menorca in a private Snapchat group. Despite the message being intercepted by UK security services and leading to Spanish fighter jets being scrambled, the judge ruled that no real threat was found and that the message was intended as a private joke. The source of the message's interception remains unclear, with theories suggesting it may have been via Gatwick's Wi-Fi network, although the airport denies this capability. Snapchat, through which the message was sent, has not commented on the case.
