Wicked's Vibrant Colors Clash with Modern Film Techniques
The production of the film adaptation of "Wicked" faced a unique challenge due to the character Elphaba's green skin, which clashed with the green-screen technology typically used in visual effects. To avoid erasing the character, the filmmakers switched to blue screens, which presented their own lighting challenges. Visual effects supervisor Pablo Helman and the team had to creatively manage these issues to maintain the film's visual integrity, especially in complex musical scenes.
