Yainer Díaz Deserves Regular Playing Time Based on Performance
The Houston Astros' decision to call up Bligh Madris and option Cesar Salazar creates an issue with playing time for rookie slugger Yainer Diaz, who has been performing well in June. While the Astros value Martin Maldonado's intangibles as the primary catcher, Diaz's production warrants more playing time, not less, especially with the team trailing the Rangers and trying to compete with the Angels. However, the lack of a backup catcher on the active roster may limit Diaz's playing time.
