Blaseball shuts down, staff layoffs announced.
Blaseball, the supernatural baseball browser-based betting league, is closing down due to the high cost of running the game. The Game Band, its developers, announced the news and laid off an undisclosed number of staff. Blaseball was known for its rich fiction and supernatural twists that allowed for wild rule changes, voted for by Blaseball players, between seasons. The game reached its peak in 2020, but never found a business model that made sense. The closure announcement expressed hope for something new that brings everyone back together in the future.
