Controversial PS Plus Game Sees Disappointing Debut Player Count

Black Desert's debut on PS Plus in September 2023 had the lowest player count of any PS Plus Essential game this year, falling 20% lower than the previous lowest-performing debut. The MMO game was overshadowed by strong new releases and a bigger game in the September lineup, Saints Row. The game's age, being a four-year-old PS4 port of a nearly 10-year-old PC game, and the historical underperformance of MMOs on PS Plus may have contributed to its lack of interest. However, it remains to be seen if Black Desert will have any long-term success on the PlayStation Chart.

The Curse and Beauty of Jordan's Landscape.

Jordan's Black Desert, with its natural and human history, including ancient ruins, Safaitic inscriptions, and nature reserves, may be transformed by the New City Project, which aims to create a second capital on the edge of the desert by 2050. However, the project's success is uncertain due to the region's water scarcity and lack of location-specific activities. The Black Desert is also home to Bedouin nomads and serves as a political presence for them. Jordan is torn between exploiting or preserving the desert, but tourism may offer a middle way to benefit financially from environmental efforts.
