High school band director arrested for refusing to stop performance
Johnny Mims, the band director at Minor High School, speaks out after being arrested and stunned with a Taser by Birmingham police. The incident occurred during a prohibited "fifth quarter" performance, where bands battle after football games. Body camera footage shows officers confronting Mims, leading to an altercation and the deployment of a Taser multiple times in front of students. Mims was charged with disorderly conduct, harassment, and resisting arrest. The Alabama Education Association will address the incident, and the Birmingham Police Department's Internal Affairs Division is investigating.
