Google Settlement Payments Arrive for Illinois Residents
Illinois residents are receiving payments from a $100 million class action settlement against Google, which was accused of violating the state's biometric privacy laws by collecting and storing biometric data of Google Photos users. Eligible residents who appeared in a photo on the app between May 1, 2015, and April 25, 2022, were advised to fill out a claim form, and payments of $95.38 are now being received. The distribution of class action payments is expected to be completed by July 9, 2023.
