Panera Bread introduces Amazon's palm-reading payment technology.
Panera Bread will become the first restaurant to deploy Amazon's palm reading payment and loyalty system, Amazon One, in its stores. The system creates a unique palm print for each customer, which is associated with a credit card and Amazon account. Panera will use the system to enable fast payments and personalized meal recommendations based on prior orders and preferences. Amazon One will also introduce loyalty linking and online pre-enrollment. The system has been deployed at various stadiums, airports, and Amazon's own retail locations.
