Rickwood Field Shines in Historic Celebration of Baseball Legends
In a historic tribute to the Negro Leagues, 99-year-old Bill Greason, a former Birmingham Black Baron and St. Louis Cardinal, delivered the ceremonial first pitch before the Cardinals' game against the Giants. The event, held at Rickwood Field, deeply moved Cardinals coach Willie McGee, who reflected on the significance of honoring the legacy and struggles of Negro Leagues players. The tribute included nearly 70 former players and celebrated the integration of Negro Leagues stats into MLB's historical record.
