Big Boy 4014 Heads East for Independence Day Tour
Union Pacific will send its 4-8-8-4 Big Boy 4014 on a multi-city East Coast tour to celebrate the Declaration of Independence's 250th anniversary, with stops from Cheyenne to Philadelphia (May 25–July 29) including Omaha, Chicago, Buffalo, Scranton, Altoona, St. Louis and Kansas City; it marks the first time a Big Boy operates in the Eastern U.S. The railroad also unveiled two commemorative locomotives: SD70M 1776 with the America 250 motif and 4547 named after President Donald J. Trump, continuing a presidential-tribute series that has honored Lincoln and George H. W. Bush.
