Shimano's Crankset Recall: A Nightmare for Riders and Shops
Shimano is recalling approximately 680,000 bonded 11-Speed Hollowtech Road cranksets sold in the U.S. between January 2012 and August 2023 due to a risk of separation and breakage, which can cause crashes. The recall comes after the company received over 4,500 complaints, including reports of bone fractures, joint displacement, and lacerations. Consumers are advised to stop using the affected cranksets and contact an authorized Shimano dealer for a free inspection and replacement if necessary.
