Paramount Skydance's new leadership has confirmed that BET Networks is no longer for sale and will be a key part of their streaming strategy, with plans to invest in Paramount Pictures, CBS, and Paramount+ while consolidating streaming assets to enhance competitiveness and growth.
Sean "Diddy" Combs has expressed interest in joining other moguls, including Tyler Perry and Byron Allen, in a stake sale of BET Networks, which is being shopped by parent company Paramount Global. Combs believes it's time for BET to be Black-owned again so that Black audiences can control their own narrative. BET was founded by Robert Johnson in 1980 and was acquired by Viacom in 2001. The valuation of BET Media Group is still being discussed, but its revenue last year was about $1.5 billion.
