A 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster owned by collector Jim Patterson won Best of Show at the 2023 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The car, one of only three Long-Tail Special Roadsters with a covered spare, is an exquisite example of Streamline Moderne styling. Patterson purchased the car in 2022 and made it perfect with his team's work. The win reinforces the trend of privileging uniquely designed pinnacle iterations of the Classic era at Pebble Beach.
