
48-hour crime spree ends in fatal police shootout in Kane County.
A man who had been on a 48-hour suburban crime spree was killed in a shootout with Kane County Sheriff's deputies in Batavia, Illinois. The suspect had carjacked a vehicle in Aurora and was pursued by deputies before being stopped and subdued by a K-9. An exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in the suspect and K-9 Hudson being hit. Both were later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Deputies involved in the incident were taken to local hospitals for evaluation with no reported injuries.
