Serbian basketball player Boriša Simanić had to undergo two surgeries and have his kidney removed after taking an elbow to his midsection during a game against South Sudan at the Basketball World Cup. Due to complications, the entire kidney had to be surgically removed, and finding the correct blood type for the 25-year-old was challenging. Simanić's teammate volunteered to donate blood. The player will remain in a Manila hospital for recovery, and his team will face Lithuania in the quarter-finals.
