Braves Fall Short in Series Against Cubs

The Atlanta Braves fell short in their series against the Chicago Cubs, losing the rubber game 6-4. The Braves struggled with poor performances from their starting pitchers, costly errors, baserunning mistakes, and missed opportunities in clutch situations. Despite having chances to win, the Braves did not meet their own standards. Charlie Morton had a rough outing, allowing five runs over 4-1/3 innings. Matt Olson had a strong performance with a 453-foot home run and a career-high 39th homer. The Braves made baserunning mistakes and struggled with runners in scoring position. They look to bounce back in their upcoming series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Javier Báez benched for costly mistakes in Tigers vs. Blue Jays game.

Detroit Tigers shortstop Javier Báez was benched in the second inning of a game against the Toronto Blue Jays after making two embarrassing baserunning mistakes. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch called Báez for a one-on-one meeting in the dugout tunnel after the top of the third inning and pulled him from the game. Hinch said he could've benched other players for baserunning mistakes in this series but decided benching Báez would send the loudest message. This isn't the first time a manager has benched Báez for forgetting how many outs there were.
