Purdue Welcomes Barry Odom Amid Mixed Reactions and Future Challenges
Purdue University has signed Barry Odom as its new head football coach with a six-year contract worth at least $39 million, marking a 50% salary increase from his predecessor, Ryan Walters. Odom's salary will start at $6 million and increase to $7.25 million by 2030, with potential bonuses up to $1.5 million. The contract includes a coach-end buyout starting at $6 million, decreasing over time, and a school-end buyout requiring Purdue to pay 75% of the remaining contract if Odom is fired without cause.
