Erin Jackson aims to widen winter-sports opportunities after Olympic gold
Erin Jackson, who won the 500 meters at the Beijing Olympics and became the first Black woman to win an individual Winter Olympics gold, says she doesn’t want to be the last and hopes her story motivates more Black athletes to pursue winter sports. At the U.S. Speedskating trials ahead of the Milan Cortina Games, she highlights the barriers to entry and plans to help minority women get involved through a foundation and mentorship initiatives.
