Ohio River Barge Incidents Cause Concern for Residents and Officials
A barge caught fire on the Ohio River in Cincinnati, causing a shelter-in-place order to be issued for residents within a half-mile radius. The fire was fueled by 6,000 gallons of diesel fuel and caused thick smoke to billow into the air. Firefighters battled the blaze from both land and water, with the Coast Guard assisting in extinguishing the fire. No injuries have been reported, and officials say there are no known hazardous materials involved in the fire. The shelter-in-place order was lifted just before 7 p.m., but residents can expect to see light smoke throughout the night.
